10 Best Vacuums For Pet Hair On Carpets 2026 in the United States

The Shark Navigator Lift-Away NV356E is a strong contender for those needing a vacuum specifically designed for pet hair on carpets. Its powerful suction and brush roll make it effective at removing stubborn pet hair and dander from carpets and upholstery. The Lift-Away feature allows you to detach the pod for above-floor cleaning, making it versatile for stairs and furniture. This can be particularly helpful for pet owners who need to clean various surfaces.

A significant advantage is the anti-allergen complete seal, combined with a HEPA filter that captures 99.9% of dust and allergens, which is beneficial for allergy sufferers in homes with pets. The extra-large dust cup means you can clean for longer without needing to stop and empty it, enhancing convenience during larger cleaning sessions.

Maneuverability is also a strong point due to the swivel steering, which helps navigate around furniture and tight corners easily. The included attachments, such as the crevice tool and dusting brush, add to the vacuum's versatility, allowing for a more thorough clean of corners and delicate surfaces. However, the vacuum does have a few drawbacks. Weighing in at 13.7 pounds, it may be a bit cumbersome for some users, especially when carried up and down stairs. Additionally, while it has decent noise control, it operates at 80 dB, which might be considered loud for some households.

The eufy C28 robot vacuum stands out for pet owners dealing with hair on carpets thanks to its powerful 15,000 Pa turbo suction that automatically increases on carpets for deeper cleaning. Its DuoSpiral brush roll is cleverly designed to prevent hair tangles, which is a big plus for homes with long-haired pets. This means less manual clearing of the brush, saving time and frustration. The vacuum's filtration system is washable, which is convenient and eco-friendly.

One of the biggest conveniences is its all-in-one self-emptying and self-washing base station that can hold dirt for up to 75 days and also cleans and dries the mop automatically, drastically reducing upkeep. This feature is quite rare and valuable for busy pet owners. The vacuum uses LiDAR navigation, which is quiet (about 55 dB) and privacy-safe since it avoids cameras, helping it smoothly maneuver around furniture and pet bowls without disturbing your pets.

The vacuum weighs 24 pounds including the station, which is relatively heavy if you plan to move it between floors or rooms manually. It’s designed primarily for hard floors and short wool carpets, so it may struggle somewhat on thick or high-pile carpets. The cleaning path width of about 11 inches is standard but not wide, so it might take more time for very large spaces. The vacuum is bagless, but since it empties into a bag within the base station, it combines both benefits—cleanliness without frequent bag changes. This makes the eufy C28 a smart choice for pet owners who want a mostly hands-off cleaning experience with strong suction and excellent pet hair management on hard floors and low-pile carpets. However, if you have thick carpets or need a lighter vacuum for manual handling, there might be better fits.

The Shark Upright Vacuum, Navigator Lift-Away (model ZU503AMZ), is a solid choice for pet owners dealing with pet hair on carpets. Its self-cleaning brushroll is a standout feature, effectively picking up pet hair without the hassle of hair wrap. The vacuum boasts a powerful 1200-watt motor, ensuring strong suction power for deep cleaning carpets and other surfaces. The HEPA filtration system, combined with Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology, helps trap dust and allergens, making it a great option for allergy sufferers.

This upright vacuum is also versatile, with lift-away functionality allowing you to clean under furniture, on upholstery, stairs, and more. It comes with useful attachments like the Pet Crevice Tool and Upholstery Tool, enhancing its ability to tackle pet hair in hard-to-reach areas and on delicate fabrics. Swivel steering aids in maneuverability, making it easier to navigate around furniture and tight spaces.

Weighing in at approximately 15 pounds, it’s relatively lightweight for an upright vacuum, though users seeking ultra-light models might find it a bit heavy. Operating at 80 dB, it's moderately noisy but not excessively loud. The vacuum is bagless, which means you won't need to buy replacement bags, but you will need to empty the dust cup regularly. Additionally, it has a good-sized capacity of 5.3 liters, reducing the frequency of emptying. With a 5-year limited warranty and strong customer reviews (4.4 out of 5 stars from nearly 24,000 ratings), this vacuum is a reliable choice for pet owners. While it’s not cordless, which could be a drawback for some, its powerful performance and pet-focused features make it well-suited for homes with pets and carpets.
