10 Best Wifi Enabled Speakers 2026 in the United States

The Amazon Echo Show 15 is a versatile device that blends a smart speaker's functionality with a high-definition display, making it a great addition to any home, especially in the kitchen. One of its standout features is the 15.6-inch Full-HD screen, which not only allows for video calls with family and friends but also serves as a digital photo frame and a hub for viewing calendars and reminders. The integration with Fire TV is a bonus, providing access to a wealth of streaming content directly on the device. Its smart home capabilities enable you to control various devices through voice commands, making it a central point for managing your smart home ecosystem.

In terms of sound quality, the Echo Show 15 features robust audio with two woofers and two tweeters, delivering clear and vibrant sound for music and videos. The connectivity options are comprehensive, supporting Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth, which allows for seamless connections to other devices.

However, there are some downsides to consider. While the device is portable to some extent, its larger size (about 5 pounds) means it may not be as easily moved around as smaller speakers. Additionally, the Echo Show 15 requires a constant power source, which limits its portability further. Privacy features are built-in, but some users may still feel uneasy having a camera and microphone in their home. The app support is decent, with the Alexa app allowing for easy management of smart devices; however, some advanced features may require separate subscriptions. Lastly, while the device is designed to be user-friendly, those unfamiliar with smart technologies might need some time to fully explore its features. The Echo Show 15 is ideal for families and tech-savvy individuals looking for a multifunctional smart display, but it may not be the best fit for those seeking a compact, fully portable speaker.

The Amazon Echo Dot (5th Gen) is a compact and stylish wifi-enabled speaker ideal for smaller spaces like bedrooms, dining rooms, and offices. It delivers vibrant sound with a 1.6-inch full-range driver that handles a decent range of audio frequencies, though it plays audio in mono, so it may lack depth compared to larger or stereo speakers. Connectivity options are robust, supporting dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth streaming, and integration with various streaming services like Amazon Music, Spotify, and Apple Music.

Multi-room listening is easy to set up, allowing you to pair multiple Echo devices for synchronized music throughout your home or link with Fire TV for a simple home theater experience. Alexa voice assistant is well integrated and responsive, offering hands-free control for music, smart home devices, timers, and general questions, plus accessibility features to accommodate diverse user needs. While the Echo Dot doesn’t have a built-in battery and needs to stay plugged in, it compensates with additional functionality like acting as a mesh Wi-Fi extender if you use compatible eero equipment, which helps improve your home's wifi coverage.

The Alexa app supports setup and customization, with ongoing updates enhancing features and privacy controls. Privacy is thoughtfully addressed with multiple layers, including a microphone off button and options to delete voice recordings. This Echo Dot is great for anyone looking for a smart speaker with solid voice control and multi-room capabilities in a small footprint, especially if you want Alexa’s ecosystem and smart home control. However, if you prioritize powerful sound or portable battery-powered speakers, you might want to consider other options.

The Amazon Echo Show 5 (newest model) is a compact wifi-enabled speaker with a 5.5” display that offers a variety of features suitable for smart home integration. It excels in sound quality for its size, with improved bass and clearer vocals, making it a good choice for streaming music, podcasts, and shows. The small display also provides a convenient way to view information like news, weather, and incoming calls at a glance, adding a visual element to the audio experience. Connectivity options include dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth, ensuring seamless integration with other devices in your home.

Additionally, it supports a variety of smart home devices through WiFi, Bluetooth Low Energy Mesh, and Matter, enhancing its versatility in a connected home environment. The multi-room capability allows you to control and stream to other Echo devices across your home, and the built-in Alexa voice assistant enables hands-free operation and voice commands. The device includes a 2 MP camera for video calls and home monitoring, although the camera's resolution is modest. Portability is somewhat limited by the need for a constant power supply, but the compact size makes it easy to move around within a home.

The design is modern and the build quality is robust, with an emphasis on sustainability through the use of recycled materials. The accompanying app offers extensive software support, enhancing usability with features like photo display and accessibility options. On the downside, the small screen may not be ideal for watching videos for extended periods, and the camera's resolution might not satisfy users looking for high-quality video calls. Furthermore, its need for a stable WiFi connection and power supply limits its flexibility compared to truly portable speakers. In summary, the Echo Show 5 is well-suited for users looking for a compact, multifunctional device that combines a smart speaker with a visual display, especially those invested in Amazon's ecosystem.
